Enterprise Storage, Open Plan: A full-run white 4-tier numbered wall locker bank installed in an NYC corporate headquarters. Mechanical combo locks, coordinated numbering, full-program management by Modern Office Systems.
The NYC Storage Challenge
Manhattan's floor plates are expensive. With hybrid work driving higher peak-day occupancy and open-plan design eliminating personal storage at the desk, where does everyone's stuff go?
Storage lockers solve this — but only when they're specified correctly. The right program balances the number of lockers against your peak occupancy rate, sizes compartments against what your employees actually carry, and places banks where they don't eat into your usable workspace.
Modern Office Systems has been solving this problem for NYC offices for over 40 years. We come to your space, assess your storage needs, and return with a program that works — not a catalog order.
NYC Storage Locker Installations
Every installation below was designed, specified, and installed by Modern Office Systems. Wall banks, locker islands, under-window storage — built to fit each client's space, workforce, and program requirements.
BNP Paribas · Midtown NYC
Maple-topped counter-height locker islands placed throughout BNP Paribas's open-plan floors. Day-use assignment, smart lock access, full program management from specification to final installation.
Financial Services · Downtown NYC
Freestanding charcoal laminate locker islands with electronic digital locks. Integrated into a hot-desk floor plate where assigned storage replaced the desk-drawer model after a move to open plan.
Professional Services · Midtown NYC
Combined lower locker bank with upper storage cabinet run — maximizing vertical storage on a single wall. White laminate, uniform hardware, coordinated with the office's existing FF&E palette.
Creative Agency · Hudson Yards
Dark walnut laminate counter-height locker run integrated into a gallery-style lobby corridor. The lockers double as the corridor's primary design feature — functional storage that elevates the space.
Insurance · Midtown NYC
White 4-tier wall locker banks for a Midtown insurance office with high employee-per-floor density. Maximum compartments per linear foot. Mechanical combo locks, numbered doors, full installation.
Media Company · Chelsea, NYC
Charcoal low-profile counter-height lockers running the length of a corridor beneath a curated art wall. Storage is hidden in plain sight — functional, unobtrusive, and design-forward.
Storage Configurations
The right storage locker type depends on your floor plate, your workforce, and how your team actually uses the space. We specify from this full toolkit — mixing types when the layout calls for it.
The workhorse of NYC office storage. Runs along perimeter walls and corridor walls, maximizing storage without consuming floor area. Available in 2-tier, 3-tier, 4-tier, and mixed-tier configurations. Ideal for large-scale day-use programs.
Best for: Open-plan offices, corridor runs, high-density programs
Freestanding locker islands at counter height — typically 36–42" tall — that can be placed anywhere on the floor plate. Often used to divide open-plan zones while providing storage. Optional wood or quartz tops add workspace.
Best for: Open-plan zone dividers, collaborative areas, showpiece installations
Low-profile locker banks installed below window sills — turning wasted perimeter space into a dense storage run. Counter height or lower, these preserve daylight and sightlines while adding significant storage capacity.
Best for: Windowed perimeter walls, offices with limited interior wall space
A best practice in modern workplace design: mixing locker heights (e.g., alternating 2-tier and 3-tier) within a single bank run. Breaks up visual monotony, adds rhythm to a long corridor, and accommodates varied storage needs on the same wall.
Best for: Long corridor runs, branded or design-forward installations
Floor-to-ceiling locker banks for maximum per-compartment storage volume. Ideal where employees need to store coats, gym bags, or equipment. Available in 1-tier full-height or 2-tier configurations with generous interior dimensions.
Best for: Law firms, healthcare offices, fitness facility-adjacent programs
Double-sided locker islands designed to terminate at the end of a workstation row. Accessible from both sides, they maximize locker count per footprint and create natural wayfinding anchors on a large open-plan floor.
Best for: Benching-heavy floors, financial services, open-plan programs

Why Modern Office Systems
We're not a furniture dealer who also sells lockers. Storage lockers are our specialty — the thing we've done, every day, for 40 years. Here's what that means for your project.
We come to your office, count your employees, assess your peak occupancy, measure your available wall and floor space, and ask how your team actually uses storage. Then we spec the program — not before.
We've delivered and installed in hundreds of Manhattan buildings. We know how to navigate freight elevator windows, COI requirements, building management protocols, and union labor rules — so your installation goes smoothly.
We work alongside architects, designers, and furniture dealers on FF&E projects of all scales. Whether we're the lead or handling the locker portion of a larger program, we integrate seamlessly with your broader team.
From first conversation to final door, one person at MOS owns your project. Design, specification, fabrication coordination, delivery, and installation — no handoffs, no gaps, no finger-pointing.
Our showroom at 45 West 36th Street has locker samples, laminate finishes, and hardware options you can touch and see before committing. One block from Penn Station — easy to visit.
We build lead time into every project from day one and keep you updated throughout fabrication. No surprises when your move-in window or renovation deadline arrives. 8–10 weeks, standard.

Day-use lockers are unassigned — employees take one at the start of the day and clear it out at the end. They work best for hybrid workplaces where not everyone is in the office every day. Permanent-assignment lockers belong to a specific person long-term. We design programs for both models, or hybrid combinations of the two, based on your headcount and occupancy patterns.
For a hybrid day-use program, a common starting point is one locker per 1.2–1.5 employees who are typically in the office on the busiest day. For permanent-assignment, you need one per entitled employee. We conduct a full storage needs assessment — headcount, bag sizes, tech equipment, peak-day occupancy — before recommending a program size.
Counter-height and 2-tier lockers are the most popular — compartments are large enough for a laptop bag, gym bag, or tote. For employees who carry larger bags or need coat storage, full-height or 1-tier configurations work better. We walk you through compartment dimensions against your team's typical carry before making a recommendation.
Yes — this is one of the most common projects we handle. Wall lockers run along perimeter walls without taking floor space. Counter-height islands replace low credenzas and double as workspace dividers. Under-window banks add storage where wall space would otherwise go unused. We survey your floor plan and identify optimal placement before specifying anything.
Yes. Modern Office Systems manages the entire program: needs assessment, space planning, finish selection, fabrication coordination, freight delivery, and full installation by our own crew. We coordinate with your building management on freight elevator scheduling, COI requirements, and union labor protocols. One point of contact, start to finish.
Standard programs have an 8–10 week lead time from signed order to installation. We build lead time planning into every project from day one and keep you updated throughout fabrication, so there are no surprises when your move-in or renovation window arrives.
